The Alabama Republican Party has named Troy Towns, a Montgomery optician, as its Director of Minority Outreach.

Towns manages Optica, a designer eyewear store behind Flip’s in the Sturbridge Shopping Center on Vaughn Road, and previously worked at Bell Road Eyewear.

“Troy’s passion for spreading conservative principles is truly inspiring,” Alabama Republican Party chairman Bill Armistead said in a statement.  ”Troy has a vision to expand the ‘Republican tent’ across the state by encouraging all Alabamians to ‘vote their values.’”

A message left for Towns at Optica Tuesday afternoon was not immediately returned.
