Dimitri Polizos does not have as much cash as his opponents in the race for the Alabama House of Representatives, but he picked up a key endorsement this week.
Farm PAC, the political arm of the Alabama Farmers Federation, endorsed Polizos in his race for District 74 in the Alabama House of Representatives. The Montgomery County Farmers Federation Board of Directors interviewed all three candidates and reached the decision on Tuesday.
“After meeting Dimitri Polizos, I understand why our local board chose to endorse Dimitri in his race for the state Legislature,” said Paul Pinyan, executive director of the Alabama Farmers Federation. “Commissioner Polizos has a solid record of promoting economic development and property rights, and I trust he will be a common sense conservative member of the State House.”
Polizos, a member of the Montgomery County Commission and a local restaurant owner, said he was excited to receive the support of the federation “because we share common goals of good government, fiscal responsibility and economic growth.”
After the local board endorses a candidate, the federation has the authority to provide grassroots and financial support.
Polizos, Montgomery County Board of Education vice president Heather Sellers, and former Montgomery County Board of Education president Charlotte Meadows are running after Rep. Jay Love resigned his seat to work with the Business Education Alliance, an education reform outlet founded by the Business Council of Alabama. All three candidates are Republicans.
The election is Oct. 8.
