Those operating the political action committee for the Business Council of Alabama, ProgressPAC, endorsed five statewide judicial candidates who are running for reelection in 2014.
The early endorsement of the Republican incumbents is not a surprise for the conservative business organization.
The candidates endorsed by the ProgressPAC board of directors include:
Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Greg Shaw
Presiding Judge William Thompson of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals
Judge Scott Donaldson of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals
Presiding Judge Mary Windom of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals
Judge Beth Kellum of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals
“All of these judges have a proven track record of being fair and impartial while serving on their respective courts,” said ProgressPAC chairman Fred McCallum, president of AT&T Alabama, in a release sent out by BCA. “Their commitment to the rule of law and conservative judicial philosophy made the decision to endorse early an easy one.”
All statewide elected officials in Alabama, including all statewide judges, are Republicans.
The primary for the November 2014 election is June 3.
The Business Council of Alabama is hosting its governmental affairs conference in Point Clear this weekend.
