The good news is Alabama State’s basketball team returns home for only the second time this season after Monday’s game at Detroit-Mercy.
The bad news is the Hornets are 0-7 and struggling mightily to put the ball in the basket.
At least a couple of the Hornet upperclassmen returned to the floor after clearing up academic issues as both Shawntez Patterson and Phillip Crawford played on Monday for Alabama State, which plays host to Troy on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
“There are a lot of positives that we can take away from this game as we continue to move forward,” ASU coach Lewis Jackson said. “Getting some guys back will help us as they get some more time in. The older guys will be playing more minutes so that way the younger guys don’t have to play as many as they did in the first five or six games. We are on the right track and once the guys learn they have to compete for 40 minutes some positive things will start to happen.”
