The former home of the Ox Yoke Steak House & Grill in Wetumpka was reborn about a month ago as River Ridge Steakhouse.

The new menu and concept is the vision of general manager Michael Cruse, who helped owner Jerry Kyser open Central Restaurant in downtown Montgomery two years ago.

“I wanted a family friendly casual dining steakhouse featuring locally sourced ingredients,” Cruse said. “I really wanted to test my culinary ability and my passion for food while still embracing my Texas roots. I can see River Ridge Steakhouse becoming not just a local favorite but have regional appeal.”

The steakhouse, at 915 US 231, is still undergoing minor renovations but is open for dinner Monday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m.; Friday from 4 to 10 p.m.; and Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m.

Cruse is shooting for affordable prices and unique entrees like watermelon ribs and sweet tea fried chicken. The seafood and vegetables are local, and sides, sauces, dressings and desserts are house-made. It also has a 10-and-under children’s menu.
